Documents You Need to Sell or Scrap Your Car in Dubai
Having the right papers ready is the quickest way to get paid on the same day.
Most delays when selling a scrap car in Dubai come from missing paperwork, not from the car itself. Here's what to have ready.
The usual list
- Emirates ID or passport of the registered owner
- Registration card (Mulkiya) for the car
- Car keys, if you still have them
If the registration has expired
An expired Mulkiya doesn't stop you selling a scrap car, but there may be outstanding fines linked to the plate. Check them in the RTA app or on the Dubai Police app before pickup, so you know the full picture.
If there's a bank loan on the car
A financed car can't be transferred or scrapped until the loan is cleared and the bank releases it. Ask your bank for a clearance letter first. Tell your buyer about the loan when you ask for a quote.
If the owner can't be there
If someone else is handing over the car, they will normally need an authorisation or power of attorney from the owner. Rules can change, so check the current requirements with RTA.
